Crossing the Mallerstang valley (looking south). Looks good ahead but it had been a very low-level scrabble to get onto and over the moors

Cracking sky ahead with an obvious streeting line to follow. No idea where Ben is at this stage.
Kirkby Stephen, with the station below ... awesome sky opening up. Winds fairly light at height from the SSE.

Burnt moors just north of the A66. Battled a lot lower over these a few days before. They usually work well.
Climbing to 5,300' in strong climb.
Spectacular! Several different cloud levels being passed during the climb
Room with a view at 5,200. Looking back south ... I saw a single distant glider during the climb but for some reason he headed west out of the lift line.
Ben appeared to the west, we came close but then departed to our respective different goals.
Onwards towards Penrith with a great sky. Looking west towards Orton Scar.
